Indian shuttler Kidambi Srikanth is pretty confident of winning a gold medal at Birmingham Commonwealth Games. Kidambi Srikanth is defending gold medalist and the Indian shuttler is aiming to bring the glory back home.
Any type of injury or sickness is not a good period for sports personalities. Our Indian ace shuttler Kidambi Srikanth has admitted that he was frustrated to miss out Indian Open. Kidambi Srikanth was the latest personality to have contracted Covid 19 virus.
Luckily, Srikanth has recovered well from the covid 19 infection and is scheduled to start playing the German Open from 8th March 2022.
Kidambi Srikanth is currently in good form. He won the silver medal at World Championships in December 2021. His momentum was broken as he tested positive for coronavirus.
“It was frustrating but it is something I had no control over. I wanted to play the events in India as I felt I had a very good chance to win the tournament. I had mild symptoms. I was in isolation for around 10 days. Fortunately, I recovered quickly and once the test came negative, I started training immediately.”
While commenting on his upcoming schedule, Kidambi Srikanth said that his priority is to defend the CWG gold medal.
“The Commonwealth Games is very important for me as I am the defending champion. Asian Games is also important and in between, there is the World Championship. This is an important year and I just want to train well and play to the best of my ability. I have a very high chance of winning gold in individuals at CWG. But I will have to be really fit and be able to train well, be match-ready before CWG and implement my plans.
Kidambi Srikanth is said to be the best Indian men’s badminton player. He became the only Indian player to reach the men’s singles finals at World Badminton Championships. Also, he is the only man to win Super Series Premier Event on the BWF tour.
